Hyundai has officially announced that the 2025 Ioniq 5 will be its first electric vehicle (EV) to feature native Tesla Supercharging capabilities, marking a significant step in expanding its EV offerings. The new model, equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allows Ioniq 5 owners to access Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network without requiring an adapter, effectively doubling the available DC fast-charging infrastructure for the vehicle.
The 2025 Ioniq 5 also sees improvements in battery capacity and range. The standard model now includes a 63 kWh battery, while the long-range version boasts an 84 kWh battery, pushing the vehicle's range to over 310 miles. This update is part of Hyundai's broader strategy to make EVs more appealing to a wider audience, especially as the company aims to sell two million EVs annually by 2030.
Production of the new Ioniq 5 will begin at Hyundai’s $7.6 billion plant in Georgia, with models expected to hit dealerships later this year. This move is part of Hyundai’s effort to enhance its competitive edge in the U.S. market, where Tesla continues to dominate.
