TCL has expanded its lineup with the introduction of the TCL 50 Pro NXTPAPER 5G and the TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G, both featuring the company's signature NXTPAPER display technology. These new models, announced at IFA 2024, come with a dedicated NXTPAPER Key that enables a "Max Ink Mode," offering a reading experience akin to e-ink devices. The Pro model differentiates itself with a higher-resolution front camera and increased storage capacity.
The NXTPAPER display is designed to reduce glare and provide a paper-like reading experience, making these phones ideal for users who consume a lot of text on their devices. Both phones are equipped with a 6.8-inch FHD+ display, a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and a sizable 5,010mAh battery. The main rear camera boasts a 108MP sensor, with additional cameras including an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro.
TCL has also partnered with Microsoft to integrate AI into these devices, enhancing productivity features such as text translation, summarization, and the ability to transcribe and summarize voice memos. The TCL 50 Pro NXTPAPER 5G is set to launch in Europe and Latin America for €299, while the TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G will be available for €229. There is no confirmed US release date as of yet, but the potential for a 2025 launch is hinted at.
These new additions to TCL's portfolio showcase the company's commitment to providing innovative display technology and AI integration at competitive price points. With the new NXTPAPER phones, TCL aims to cater to the growing demand for devices that prioritize eye comfort and productivity.
