Apple has announced a significant update for its AirPods Pro 2 at its September 2024 event, transforming the wireless earbuds into a “clinical-grade” hearing aid. This new feature will be available through a software update later this year, allowing users to take a hearing test directly on their iPhone, which will personalize their AirPods for better sound clarity.

The hearing aid mode is designed for people with moderate hearing loss, offering real-time sound adjustments based on the hearing test results. While the feature is still undergoing FDA approval, Apple plans to roll it out in over 100 countries.
