China’s leading display manufacturer, BOE, has introduced a groundbreaking OLED panel with the highest color performance globally, potentially threatening Samsung Display and LG Display's dominance in the OLED market. BOE’s new panel incorporates TADF (Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence) technology, combined with a dual-stack tandem OLED design, offering advantages in both power efficiency and longevity.
The innovative TADF-sensitized high color gamut technology uses a combination of deep green hyperfluorescence and deep red phosphorescence to achieve over 95% BT.2020 color gamut coverage, far surpassing LG’s W-OLED (70%) and Samsung’s QD-OLED (90%). This development makes BOE’s new panel a frontrunner in delivering superior color accuracy and brightness, especially in high dynamic range (HDR) content for devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
BOE has also expanded its presence in Apple’s supply chain, alongside Samsung and LG. The company recently secured orders for iPhone SE panels and continues to increase its supply for Apple products, positioning itself as a serious competitor in the global OLED market.
BOE’s 8.6-generation OLED factory in Chengdu, scheduled for full production by 2029, underscores its ambition to challenge Korean manufacturers in IT and display technologies.
