Oracle has announced an industry-shaking plan to deploy a massive supercluster of 131,072 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, setting a new benchmark in the world of AI computing. This colossal infrastructure aims to address the growing demand for AI and cloud computing resources, which Oracle executives have described as “still outstripping supply.”
This supercluster, slated to go live next year, will deliver up to 2.4 zettaflops of peak AI computing power, powered by NVIDIA’s ConnectX-7 NICs supporting RoCEv2 or NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networks. The deployment will enable Oracle to offer enhanced support for AI training and the deployment of cutting-edge models in the cloud.
Oracle’s ambitions don’t stop at GPUs. The company is expanding its data center footprint, aiming to construct up to 2,000 new data centers. Each center will be powered by as much as 1 gigawatt of electricity, potentially utilizing small modular reactors (SMRs) to meet energy demands. This monumental scale reflects Oracle’s commitment to providing cutting-edge AI infrastructure while tackling energy sustainability challenges.
With confidence in the growing AI demand, particularly in AI inference, Oracle aims to solidify its role as a leader in AI-driven cloud solutions.
