Samsung recently introduced three new mobile image sensors: the ISOCELL GN8, GN9, and KD1, designed to enhance the photography experience on smartphones. The GN8 and GN9 sensors offer 50MP resolution with sizes of 1/1.95-inch and 1/1.57-inch respectively, while the KD1 provides 32MP resolution in a 1/3.44-inch format.
The ISOCELL GN8 is capable of shooting up to 8K at 30fps and 4K at 120fps, making it ideal for capturing high-resolution images and videos in diverse lighting conditions. The ISOCELL GN9, with a slightly larger pixel size (1.0μm), offers 4K video at 60fps and ensures faster autofocus using its advanced dual-pixel technology, providing a balance of speed and image quality.
The KD1 sensor, with its 32MP resolution, is designed for more compact devices and supports up to 8MP video at 60fps. All three sensors leverage Samsung’s cutting-edge imaging technology, aiming to provide clearer images, improved light sensitivity, and energy efficiency, especially in multi-camera setups in smartphones
These advancements signal Samsung's continuous push to enhance mobile photography, offering new levels of detail, speed, and performance in future devices.
