Kensington has introduced the SD5000T5 EQ Thunderbolt 5 docking station, the first to be officially certified by Intel for the Thunderbolt 5 standard. Designed for professionals and content creators, the docking station offers 11 ports and impressive data transfer speeds of up to 120 Gbps (15,000 MBps), making it a powerful solution for demanding workflows.
Thunderbolt 5 technology, launched by Intel last year, is just beginning to see market adoption, with the SD5000T5 being among the first products to leverage its capabilities. With 80Gbps base transfer speeds and 120Gbps bandwidth boost for video-intensive tasks, Thunderbolt 5 is set to redefine high-performance connectivity. It supports up to three 4K displays at 144Hz or two 8K displays at 60Hz, providing exceptional visual quality and smooth multitasking for high-demand workstations.
Despite the technology's potential, few devices currently support Thunderbolt 5, with Apple yet to introduce products with this capability. However, future Mac computers with M4 processors are expected to support Thunderbolt 5 by 2025.
The SD5000T5 also offers up to 140W charging power, making it ideal for workstations requiring seamless charging and fast data transfer through a single cable.
